Overground Donates 4,000+ School Supplies to Classroom Central

CHARLOTTE, NC, August 23, 2017 – Overground is blazing a trail with community transformation through giving to Classroom Central. 1 in 2 students in Charlotte and its surrounding areas live in poverty and can’t afford to buy the basic school supplies they need to learn. Which is why Classroom Central, a non-profit organization, has been helping provide free school supplies to area students in need for the past 15 years.

Overground CEO, Eric Dudley, has been a strong advocate for the organization as a Charlotte Chamber board member who founded Classroom Central in 2002. And for the past four years, Overground has participated in Classroom Central’s back-to-school campaign. Thanks to the outpouring of support that we received from Overground’s clients, employees, families and friends, Overground  donated more than 4,200 school supplies to Classroom Central’s “The Free Store” this year.

“The Free Store” is Classroom Central’s largest program, supporting over 200 schools across six districts. The store is open on select weekdays during the academic year for teachers in local high-needs schools to shop for free school supplies for their students who cannot afford them.

“Classroom Central is transforming the lives of the children in our community who are in need,” says Eric Dudley. “Each year, we look forward to giving pencils, paper, binders, backpacks and more to Classroom Central’s Free Store.”
